Gilad Ophir born 1957, Tel Aviv
Untitled, 1992 In his bleak images, Gilad Ophir shows how the Zionist goal of "blooming the desert" has been undermined by the crass reality of suburban sprawl. In photographs of residential areas located on the outskirts of commuter suburbs, he documents the acceleration of the construction industry in Israel. Like an archivist, he catalogues building sites and models of residential units. The ten books shown here include architectural styles from various cultural traditions that are not always compatible with the Middle Easts climate. |
