Mike Raven

Mike Raven is a fifth-year Ph.D. student in philosophy. He is currently working on a dissertation in meta-metaphysics about the nature and significance of ontological questions. His other philosophical interests include (non-meta) metaphysics, philosophy of language and logic, and epistemology. Prior to coming to NYU, Mike was an undergraduate at Reed College, where he studied philosophy and did research in artificial life (also at Los Alamos National Laboratory).

Mike's reflections on his experience in the forum

" As the Academy gets progressively more specialized, it's harder to find good opportunities to engage with other disciplines. The Graduate Forum provides just such an opportunity. It's been enormously intellectually stimulating to interact with the members, not only to learn about their work, but also to share with them my own. What's more, it's a great deal of fun! I'm certain I'll look back on the Forum as one of the highlights of my graduate education. "
