Magalí Armillas-Tiseyra is a PhD candidate in Comparative Literature. Her dissertation focuses on the dictator novel (novels in which dictators appear as characters, in the technical sense) in Spanish American and African literatures. Specifically, she is interested in how the representation of authoritarian political power influences the form of the novel, as well as the aesthetic and political dimensions of this challenge. Magalí's interest in the Forum arises from her time as a Mainzer visiting scholar at the Centre for Gender Studies at the University of Cambridge, in Spring 2007. When not reading "professionally" she enjoys a well-crafted short story.
