Leon Hilton

Leon Hilton is a PhD candidate in the Department of Performance Studies at NYU. His dissertation project, "The Smallest Gesture: Autism, Performance, and the Politics of Relationality," brings together performance studies and critical disability studies to explore how an attention to neuro-atypical forms of experience might open up new ways of thinking about communication, sensation, and phenomenological perception within the context of performance. He also works on queer theory, psychoanalysis, and performance art. His writing has appeared in the Journal of Popular Music Studies, Women & Performance, and Dance Research Journal, and is forthcoming in GLQ. He is currently the managing editor of TDR: The Journal of Performance Studies
