I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Hebrew Bible. My training in biblical studies continues to focus on the linguistic and methodological tools necessary for continued close reading of the text. My own personal interests are rather mixed. My background lies in both the natural sciences and engineering on the one hand and the fine arts and architecture on the other. I thus come to the field at an interesting time, a time when a variety of cross disciplinary perspectives are welcomed and sought after. The challenge will be to narrow my interests sufficiently so that I will be able to absorb adequately the theoretical approaches I wish to employ. The book of Genesis continues to hold my imagination and I hope to engage in research that revolves around this first of the Biblical books. Such research promises to utilize my linguistic training in comparing the plethora of Ancient Near Eastern Texts of relevance to Genesis. I trust that it will also allow me to utilize newer literary approaches that will keep me from loosing sight of the big picture. More broadly, I hope that I will be able to carve out an academic career that sustains a lifelong joyful engagement with the Biblical text in both learning and teaching.
