"After Electricity"
This presentation offers an introduction to the methods of Sound Studies, an interdisciplinary subsection of Ethnomusicology concerned with the politics of the sonic and the aural. As an exercise, we will be considering the problem of noise, as described quite effectively by Garrett Keizer in a 2001 article in Harper's, and will as a group consider different disciplinary strategies that might produce useful work about this particular object on analysis.
