Mandatory Check-In

The US government requires all new international students to report their arrival to NYU. To report your arrival, you must attend a check-in session as soon as possible once you arrive to the United States.

Note that failure to attend a check-in workshop may jeopardize your ability to remain legally in the US.

Who does NOT have to attend a check-in workshop:

  • J-1 students sponsored by other organizations (such as Fulbright)
  • dependents of F-1 and J-1 students
  • international students returning from a leave of absence from NYU

sign up for a check-in session

In order to access the sign-up form you must first activate your NYU net ID. You must then be logged in to your NYU account. If you have an alternative gmail account, you will not be able to access the check-in form.

After you select your program of study on the check-in form, a list of open check-in sessions will be available for you to select.

If you have problems accessing the sign-up form, please email ogs.records.update@nyu.edu.

What to bring:

  • Passport
  • I-94 record
  • I-20 or DS-2019
  • Your dependent’s documents (if you have dependents)

Remember:

  • Before attending the check-in workshop, update your US address with NYU.
  • You will not be admitted to the check-in without bringing ALL of your required documents.
  • Workshops last approximately 1 hour.
  • Arrive at least 15 minutes early.
  • Latecomers are not admitted and will be asked to attend a later session.
