Global Sites & Institutes

The Office of Global Programs manages the academic and administrative operations of the university's global academic sites, and aspects of the FAS study abroad centers.

NYU in Accra, Ghana
Located in Ghana's vibrant capital city and among the most intellectually and culturally vibrant cities on the continent, NYU in Ghana takes advantage of programs and facilities at two prominent higher educational institutions in West Africa: The University of Ghana, Legon and Ashesi University. Students also take courses within NYU's own academic and research facility in Accra.

NYU in Berlin
NYU in Berlin takes advantage of this cosmopolitan city's complex and crucial place in modern European history. Youthful, artistic, and hip, Berlin has traveled a path that led from the defining cultural avant-garde of the Weimar Republic to the devastation of World War II, from a divided city symbolizing the Cold War to today’s reunified and renewed capital. As an emblem of Germany’s continuing economic and political growth and as a crossroads between Western and Eastern Europe, Berlin has become a magnet for artists and intellectuals from Germany, the EU, and indeed the world.

NYU in Buenos Aires
NYU in Buenos Aires offers the exceptional opportunity to learn about the history and culture of Latin America while taking part in the lively activities of the day-to-day life of Argentina's capital city. After a decade of economic and political challenges, Argentina is experiencing renewed growth and prosperity. With its distinct European style, Buenos Aires, birthplace of the tango, is one of the largest port cities in the world and is considered the financial and cultural center of Argentina.

NYU in Florence
Located at La Pietra, a magnificent 57 acre estate in the hills above Florence, the Florence program offers an exceptional academic opportunity for undergraduates with some graduate programming, including internships in museum studies, also available. Students study the history of Europe and its cultural legacy of art, literature, philosophy, and architecture, along with the political, cultural, economic, and social issues that are shaping the future of Europe. All students take intensive Italian at either the beginner, intermediate, or advanced level. Courses in business, film, photography, and studio art are also available.

NYU in London
NYU in London draws on the city's history and vibrant culture to offer a broad liberal arts-based curriculum. Specialized academic programs for students in particular majors are also available. Field work and site visits are a regular part of many classes that take students out of the classroom and into the cosmopolitan center of London. A wide array of courses are available in various disciplines, including science, business, fine arts, theatre, history, politics, Africana studies, economics, journalism, math, psychology, and literature.

NYU in Prague
The academic program at NYU in Prague takes advantage of the legacy of the Czech Republic and the historic transformations of contemporary Central Europe. Courses are available on the extraordinary tradition of art and architecture in Central Europe; the cultural legacy of music and theatre in Central Europe; the economic and political transformations of post-Communist society; and on the history of Jews in Central Europe. Students are offered a chance to study the politics and culture of transition, exploring the role of the media, the economics of privatization, the conflict between nationalism and internationalism, and the position of minorities in present-day society.

NYU in Shanghai

A variety of liberal arts courses are offered in areas such as comparative literature, history, journalism and economics that emphasize China's place within these contexts. Chinese students with advanced English proficiency from NYU's partner university, ECNU, participate in NYU courses.

NYU in Tel Aviv
NYU in Tel Aviv, located in Israel's cosmopolitan coastal city, will open to NYU students in the fall of 2009.
