NYU in London’s popular field trips and excursions are an integral part of its social and academic program. Many of our outings are sponsored by faculty and give students a real-life window into their classroom learning, but they also serve another equally important purpose: they give our entire community—faculty, staff, and students—an opportunity to learn more about each other and parts of London and the United Kingdom that they might not otherwise see.
"I really enjoyed the NYUL programs. They were a great way to introduce us to places in England I wouldn't have necessarily visited."
"One of the most striking and fun part of the programme."
"I absolutely loved our day trips and our trip to Cornwall. I wouldn't have changed a thing - they were some great highlights of the semester. Trips taken during classes were really great as well, and I certainly learned a lot!"
"I loved the excursions to Bath and Cambridge - the areas as well as the free accommodation and bus fare. Theatre tickets, especially to the Globe, were also great."
"They enhanced my experience here in the UK. I was very pleased."
"Class visits to London sites all great. Loved the trips, did all that I could fit in. They were all set up very well, with well-chosen destinations - altogether great. Would have done more if I could have fit them in. Four stars!!!!"“Cornwall was the most socially and educationally rewarding because we learned about plants in a hands-on setting in a casual demeanor.”
“Seeing plays and concerts taught me more about British culture than I expected”
“I think the co-curricular activities taught me the most about British history and culture. I also found the HOST program to be an enlightening and rewarding experience. My independent travel over spring break taught me a lot about European culture as well.”
“Each of my classes really utilized the fact that we were studying in London; and it was really helpful. Going to the National Gallery with British Art in London; seeing Shakespeare with Shakespeare: Text and Performance; the various theatre and cultural visits with Reporting the Arts; and a trip to the Imperial War Museum with Art & War were all helpful.”
"I thought that the excursions were great. They were fun; and each one was different. If I didn't go on the day trips/excursions with NYU I don't think I would have gone at all. They really enhanced my experience."
"The trips were very great and planned appropriately. I remember last semester the Bristol trip wasn't until november and that was when I made all my close friends of NYUL and then I only had less then a month to spend time with them."
"The Modern Drama and Performance class where we got a chance to attend theatrical productions around different theatres in London, allowed me to see different neighborhoods and also to hear different accents. I learned about British diversity and a lot about British culture against stereotypes and comparing British way of life to New York's."
