London is a rich and diverse a city, replete with intellectual, cultural and social opportunities second to no other place on earth (and maybe beyond). NYUL students are able to decide the shape of their study abroad experience in large measure for themselves, by picking and choosing from this extraordinary diversity.

Each semester, NYUL offers approximately 60 courses, across a broad range of subject areas. Many of these courses include co-curricular activity, so that London and the whole of the UK become part of the extended class room. In almost every subject area, London is the home to professional societies which run a full programme of talks, seminars, and lectures, many of which are advertised and open to NYUL students.

Community service is an established tradition at NYUL, and students can participate in a broad range of community-based activities, from hospital work, to helping clean up the River Thames, to work in soup kitchens, and providing assistance in local primary and secondary schools.

Travel is an important part of the study abroad experience. NYUL offers students a one-week fall travel break and a two-week spring travel break. Cheap flights and good access to travel routes allows NYUL students to take advantage of travel opportunities.

Social life is helped by being in a foreign country that is English-speaking. There are ample opportunities to break out of the mould and meet other students not from NYUL.
