Connecting to society

NYUL has given a great deal of thought to how it might help its students connect to life in the UK.

Through membership of the University of London Student Union, the ability to take some courses at UK institutions and attendance at the Contemporary Issues in British Politics and Culture lectures, where you will learn about contemporary life in the UK in many of its aspects, NYUL students are encouraged to take advantage of what their host society has to offer.

The study abroad programme has, in NYUL's view, the responsibility to make opportunities available; the student has the responsibility to take advantage of those opportunities.

There is no substitute for the student effort. There are many stories about how American study abroad students on direct entry programmes can sit together in a class with UK and other foreign students and fail to interact with classmates. There is no substitute for your effort. We will play our part in making these opportunities as easily available to you as we can.
