london experience

Hints and tips

So, ok, you’re in London and feeling home sick and you’re frantically searching for a latte at Starbucks, a burger at McDonald’s, and reruns of Friends on the box. Full english breakfastDon’t do it, well not right away. Try instead to get into British culture.

Try (Heaven forbid) our food, our beer and our entertainment at least for one day.

How about you start by getting the 'Sun' newspaper (sister publication to the 'Times') and reading about the celebrities we love (look out for our obsession with Victoria Beckham, glamour model Jordan,‘Big Brother’ winner Jade and Heather Mills). Turn to page three. You may be surprised by our liberal attitudes!

Then a nice ‘fry up’ for breakfast (have some black pudding – with its secret ingredient). You might follow this with a trip down Brick Lane (nearest station: Aldgate East) for a chicken tikka masala (Britain’s favourite dish) or some fish and chips (quick before the cod supplies run out) and wash it all down with some British bitter (it won’t be warm).

Then go home and watch ‘Coronation Street’ (the longest running soap in the world: begun in 1960) which even the Queen Mother was said to be addicted to.

Now that’s entertainment!
