NYUL is situated in the heart of historic Bloomsbury, close to Senate House, the administrative headquarters for the federal University of London and near many of the University's constituent colleges and institutions. Senate House is the home to the University of London Library (Senate House Library), the best university library collection in London. In addition to having access to its extensive holdings, ULL also operates a special course collection, whose use is restricted to NYUL students, and which holds all the required and recommended reading for NYUL courses.
NYUL offers a special programme in African Studies, with the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. NYUL students are able to choose as many as two of five courses on offer at SOAS, and SOAS students can take for credit any of three NYUL courses.
All NYUL students are bought basic membership into the University of London Union (ULU), which is very close to Bedford Square. They can participate in the large number of student societies, including sports teams, and can use the dining facilities and attend social functions at ULU, which allows them to meet and interact with British and other foreign students. ULU also provides a swimming pool and extensive gym facilities. NYUL students can join the gym for an additional fee.
