Professor Moira Ferguson

Moira Ferguson was born in Glasgow and received her B.A. from Birkbeck College, University of London, and her M.A. and Ph.D from the University of Washington, Seattle. She taught in the Department of English at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for many years where she was also the Founding Chair of Women's Studies. Her publications include Subject to Others: British Women Writers and Colonial Slavery 1670-1834 (Routledge) and Gender and Colonial Relations from Mary Wollstonecraft to Jamaica Kincaid (Columbia U.P.). Among her forthcoming books are Paule Marshall's Fiction: A Diasporic Saga and Political Prisoners from Ruth First to Assata Shakur.
