While it is not implied that London be seen as representative of British culture, the texts will be approached in their relation to issues such the definition of the modern metropolis as a labyrinthine city of Babylon, the influence of metropolitan culture on Modernism and Modernity, assimilation versusmulticulturalism, immigration, and the effects of new modern spaces on individuals.
