As a small university in its own right, NYU in London is able to offer an unusually wide range of academic and educational opportunities for a study abroad programme.
Traditionally popular study abroad courses are certainly well represented: British Art, British Theatre, British Politics, History of London, British Cinema. But so many of our courses are not ones you would expect in study abroad. Often, we choose to offer courses because we can identify local faculty who are distinguished in specific fields: East European Politics, Politics of the Near and Middle East, Britain and Slavery, South African History.
Three science courses - Physics, Biology, and Organic Chemistry - with labs allow many pre-med students the chance of study abroad. Psychology, a wide range of Stern Business Courses, Economics, Math, Fine Art, Creative Writing, Journalism, courses in many of the Natural and Social sciences, Philosophy - an appealing variety that you might not find at a more conventional study abroad programme.
Of special note is our Africana Studies Programme, taught in partnership with the School of Oriental and African Studies, the University of London (SOAS). Three courses are offered by NYUL: Black Urban Studies, Introduction to Pan-Africanism, and State & Society in Africa. NYUL students can also choose from a list of five courses to attend at SOAS.
