Professor David-Hillel Ruben
Director
Professor David-Hillel Ruben

As Director of the NYU in London programme since 1999, David has overseen its growth and works to foster positive relationships with local institutions. He is also Professor of Philosophy at Birkbeck College, University of London, where he supervises graduate students in philosophy. His latest book, 'Action and Its Explanations', was published in 2003. He continues to research and write in the areas of philosophy of mind and philosophy of the social sciences.

Eric Sneddon
Associate Director

Eric has overall responsibility for all operational, student life, HR, financial, legal and planning issues. He also works with the Director on certain academic matters. Before joining NYUL in 2009 he was the Director of International Operations for Central College Abroad and had also led their programme in London. Eric is a graduate of the University of Edinburgh and completed postgraduate education studies at the University of Cambridge.

Yvonne Hunkin
Senior Assistant Director

Yvonne liaises with NYU in London faculty, deals with personnel matters, space allocation and facilities management. She also manages the budget of NYU in London. She came to NYU in London from City University, London in 2000, having held a number of posts within the School of Social Sciences.

Anna Maguire
Assistant Director for Academic Affairs

Anna assists with the academic management of the site. She has degrees in English, specialising in American Literature, from SUNY Binghamton and Loughborough University. Before joining us at NYU, she spent time teaching English at the University of Sydney, Australia and worked as Registrar for AIU-London.

Nigel Freeman
Assistant Director for Student Life

Nigel is responsible for welfare, student life and housing issues for NYU in London and Tisch in London students. He also arranges the trips and excursions. Nigel joined NYU in London in February 2005. He has a degree in Philosophy from the University of Leeds, and has looked after the welfare needs of American students in London for over seven years.

David Crout
Assistant Director for Freshman Programmes
David Crout

David is responsible for both student life and academic issues for NYU in London Freshman students. He also oversees the cocurricular programme of trips and events, and deals with a wide range of housing and welfare issues. David has a joint honours degree in French/Economics, a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (qualified teacher status), UKCOSA/University of Nottingham Certificate in International Education and many years of experience working in international education and student support.

Robert Pinkerton
Assistant Director for Co-Curricular Activities & Public Programming

Robert leads the planning of co-curricular events and excursions and the organisation of public programmes at NYUL. He also coordinates community service and sports programming. Robert has been working with international students in London since 2001 and has worked at NYUL since May 2006. Robert has a degree in History from the University of Sheffield.

Susan Strauss
Head of Wellness Services

Dr. Susan Strauss provides counselling and wellness programming for NYU in London students. She also serves as Senior University Teacher for City University London’s Counselling Psychology Programme, teaching for the Professional Doctorate and directing the Graduate Certificate Programme.  Susan is a Registered Psychologist in the UK. Originally from San Francisco, she has also maintained her status as a Licensed Psychologist in Texas.

Ruth Tucker
Administrative Assistant

Ruth assists with human resources, timetabling, finance and facilities. She has degrees in English from Manchester Metropolitan University and Goldsmiths College, University of London. Before joining NYU in London, Ruth worked at The Bodleian Library in Oxford.

Alice Coltofeanu
Student Life Administrator

Alice can be found in the student centre and is the first point of contact for all Student Life queries. She has a BA in American Studies from the University of Reading, which included spending a semester studying abroad at the University of Texas at Austin. Since graduation, she has worked in student services at the Open University, and recently spent 3 months travelling across America from Washington DC to California.

Becky Kelley
Administrative Assistant

Becky assists with academic affairs and supervises the student office assistants each semester. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Speech, Theatre and English from Tennessee Technological University. Before joining NYU in London, Becky worked as the Academic Program Coordinator for the Department of Anthropology at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD.

James assists with Student Life provisions, including welfare, housing, cultural trips/excursions and community service. James has a degree in Accounting & Law from the University of Manchester after which he worked as a Sabbatical Student Intern supporting Peer Support initiatives in the Faculty of Medical and Human Sciences prior to joining NYUL.

Technical Services Manager

Fenton is responsible for managing the technical services that NYU in London provide to staff and students. Fenton has a first class degree in Maths and Physics from King's College and has many years experience in IT working for Power Gen, Sainsbury's, Sage and Video Networks.

Mark Walters

Mark has responsibilities for security, the mail and assists with audio-visual equipment. He is a Londoner born and bred and, like Ron, is a good source of knowledge about London. Mark loves sport, especially football, and is a keen Arsenal supporter.
