You will be assigned housing before the start of the semester so you'll be ready to move into your new home as soon as you arrive. Housing is arranged by the program and is both required and guaranteed for all students studying at NYU Shanghai. All housing arrangements include high-speed internet access. The residence hall is located on the campus of ECNU campus in very close walking distance to the NYU center. This is a dorm-style living arrangement in which each room has its own private bathroom, AC/heating unit, Ethernet jack, and phone line. On-campus housing allows you to easily enjoy meals with NYU students, or students studying at ECNU, in one of the campus dining facilities or one of the many restaurants located just outside the back gate of ECNU.
There is no meal plan, students should expect to have most of their meals at local eateries and on-campus cafeterias. The residence has common kitchen areas with limited facilities. Please keep in mind that restaurants on and around campus are very inexpensive and offer tremendous variety. You can even find western-style cuisine, though you should expect it to be significantly more expensive than local fare..
