No other place in America will you find such an eclectic mix of activities.  Whether you visit foreign embassies, read a poem you've written at Bus Boys and Poets, or go shopping on M Street in Georgetown -- it won't be long before you fall in love with this capital, Washington, DC.

Below is a list of places students may want to visit during their semester away. Please note that while staff-sponsored trips to the following destinations may not yet be established, with student interest such trips may be created. NYU Washington, DC student life staff are responsive to all student interest and suggestions!

Washington, DC Highlights

Washington, DC is home to some of the best museums, cultural venues and sights in the United States. Though planned excursions and field trips, students will explore all that this city has to offer. Additionally, students are encouraged to experience the District with their fellow cohorts. Enjoy Afternoon High Tea in Peacock Alley at the Willard Hotel, where the name 'lobbyist' was coined, or view the inaguration dresses worn by the First Ladies at the Museum of American History. Read your inalienable rights from the original US Constitution at the National Archives or search the collections at the Phillips Collection or National Portrait Gallery.

Perhaps, you're an outdoor buff? DC is a great city to enjoy the great outdoors! Go for a run on the National Mall, or along the Potomac River. Rent a paddle boat and take a leisurely cruise around the Tidal Basin or join the Capital Bikeshare Program and take a ride to George Washington's Mount Vernon, and pass by his River House along the way. Looking for something more adventurous? Take a day trip to Harpers Ferry for whitewater rafting, or take a hike up the Billie Goat Trail at Great Falls National Park.
