Course Evaluations

NYU's Global Academic Centers offer a wide variety of courses from schools and departments across the University. Student evaluations for these courses are administered online during the closing weeks of each semester. While the evaluation survey instrument can vary slightly based on the course location and sponsoring department, all surveys meet the guidelines set by the Undergraduate Academic Affairs Committee. A sample survey can be seen here.

Course evaluation results from the Global Academic Centers are now available to the entire NYU community. The level of access to evaluation data varies depending on the user's role. Click the appropriate drop down menu below to access evaluation results.

Students with a valid netID may access quantitative results for courses which had an enrollment greater than five students and a survey response rate greater than 20%. To access results log in with netID and password here: NYU Global Course Evaluation Results.

Instructors will be emailed PDF results of their individual results at the conclusion of each semester, after grades have been submitted. In addition, instructors can access evaluation results online here: NYU Global Course Evaluation results. Log in with NYU netID and password is required.  If you have your netID but are unsure of your password go to start.nyu.edu to reset your password.  If you do not know your netID, please contact global.academics@nyu.edu.

You will find reports for classes you taught under your Eval Center (the landing page; also accessed by clicking EvalCenter in the navigation at the top). If it is near the end of a semester, you can also see when surveys will be available for courses you are currently teaching, preview the survey instrument, and email a reminder to your students from the system if the evaluation period is currently underway.

You also have access to view limited quantitative results for the evaluations of other courses taught at the Global Academic Centers. To view the general results select "School" from the navigation header bar as shown here. (Please note that you will need to exit this view and navigate back to Survey Results in order to view the more detailed quantitative and qualitative data for your courses.)

Relevant personnel from sponsoring schools and departments have full access to the quantitative and qualitative evaluation results for their courses online. Course sponsors will be notified when results are available at the conclusion of each semester.

NYU Global Academic Center Course Evaluations are conducted and reported using Smart Evals, a product of Gap, Technologies Inc.

Semesters Available

The Global Academic Center course evaluation results available in the Smart Evals system date back to Spring 2008. Terms prior to Spring 2011* were conducted on paper and open-ended comments are not available online. In most cases scanned copies of the original student responses are on file at the Office of Global Programs. Email global.academics@nyu.edu for access to these scanned copies or for inquiries about evaluation data from semesters prior to spring 2008.

Subject Heading Conversions

Prior to summer 2011 NYU operated under a different course numbering sequence in regard to subject headings using a one letter two digit code for subject headings (eg. V45). All subject headings have been converted to the current subject heading in the Smart Evals system (i.e. V45 was changed to FREN-UA). Email global.academics@nyu.edu should you have any questions regarding a subject heading conversion.

*CAS Summer Programs transitioned to online evaluations in Summer 2010. NYU Florence transitioned to online evaluations in Fall 2010.
