All students will live in NYU-leased and furnished accommodations located in Haymarket, Sydney's buzzing Chinatown neighborhood, which is a short walk away from the impressive and lively Darling Harborfront, as well multicultural and quiet Glebe—full of diverse restaurants and tree-lined streets—and the youthful and hip Newtown.
Haymarket is an ideal location for students, as it is centrally located in the city and close to many inexpensive restaurants, markets, and cafes, as well as other universities. It is also across the street from the University of Technology-Sydney library where NYU Sydney students receive membership, including borrowing privileges.
The building is two blocks from Central Station (providing quick and direct access to the airport) and other public transportation. This makes for an easy commute to the academic center, although most students walk down one of the bustling thoroughfares or quieter side streets to attend class.
$7,442 for students in a 6-bedroom suite
* Above is the approved fall 2015 and spring 2016 semester rate for the Sydney study away site. Room rates are site specific and are generally determined by room type, rental costs, and associated support services. The figures cited in NYU's Cost of Attendance are based on annual room and board rates at NYU's location in New York.
Students may prepare meals at home or dine out at one of the many affordable cafés and restaurants for which the Haymarket neighborhood is known. We particularly recommend the daily produce stalls at Paddy's Market (just blocks away) for a grocery bagful of fresh fruits and vegetables at a fraction of supermarket costs.
