Things to Do
You will see Street vendors all over Prague. The ones on Charles Bridge are particularly well known. Even if you do not plan to buy anything, check out the stands. The vendors and their goods are an integral part of the feel and atmosphere of Prague.
Please note that buying from people on the street is NOT recommended. A lot of the merchandise is illegal and overpriced. This is different than vendors in established markets.
Directions: between Wecenslas Square and Old Town Square on the Mustek Metro Stop
- Long outdoor market with souvenirs, clothes, beads, fruits and vegetables, puppets and toys.
- Very close to the NYU center.
Directions: walk from Osadni in the opposite direction of the Nadrazi Holesovice metro station; at the end of the street behind the post office.
- Large outdoor market.
- Everything from shoes and underwear to fresh produce and ski gear.
Retail Shopping Areas
Stores along the square include American and European chains as well as smaller local shops.
Directions: take the yellow line to Namesti Republiky.
Palladium is a huge shopping mall in the city center.
Directions: take the red metro line to the Chodov stop
Chodov is a large shopping mall and is well worth the extra travel time.
Directions: Take the Metro A or Tram 5, 10, 11, 16 to Flora
Palac Flora is a big modern mall with a multiplex movie theater.
Convenience Stores
Directions: near NYU center at Narodni 26
Tesco has everything you need including groceries, clothes, home goods and school supplies. Peanut butter is hard to find but you can get it here in the Foreign Foods section.
Albert Market features several locations around the city and is a great place to shop for groceries.
Sports
Hockey and Soccer
Fans are on a different level of enthusiasm in Europe! You must go to at least one sporting event to see for yourself!
Bobova Draha
An outdoor bobsledding track located at Prosecka 34b in Praha 9.
Directions: Take the yellow metro line to Palmovka then walk to the bus platform and take either the 187 or 233.
Bring your ISIC card for discounts. There is a restaurant there and the views of the city from the top of the track are breathtaking.
Joyride
Extreme sports and music event held at Zlute Lazne in Podoli in September. Competitions in breakdancing, wakeboarding, surfing, beach rugby, bmx biking, and much more. Live bands played all day.
