Each semester, the NYU Madrid staff plans several day trips and weekend excursions outside of Madrid, all of which are included in your tuition. Your understanding of Spain is broadened by journeys to other regions, such as an overnight trip in the Fall to Córdoba or Extremadura (Roman ruins of Mérida and the beautiful town of Cáceres). Adding the option of Salamanca in the Spring. You wil also have the opportunity to learn more about Spain´s history and culture on the day trips to Segovia and El Escorial.
If you'd like, you can also make plans for your own weekend adventures beyond the city. With most Fridays off from classes, you'll surely use a few of your weekends to travel with your friends. It's very easy and relatively inexpensive to travel from Madrid to any corner of the Iberian Peninsula. Recently, students have traveled to Lisbon, Barcelona, Seville, and the Canary Islands.
