Every semester, NYU London organizes a series of events, visits and excursions that are designed to give our students an understanding of British culture by visiting many wonderful places, attending special events and giving them the opportunity to sample the sights, sounds and vibrancy of our great city!
Our students first get to know London through a series of walking tours visiting many of the city’s major attractions like Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London and Westminster Abbey, while introducing students to many of London’s famous historical characters from the likes of William Shakespeare and Dr. Samuel Johnson through to Sweeney Todd and Jack the Ripper!
During orientation, each student is also given a 'Cultural Programming' brochure that details all of the cultural activities for the upcoming term. These events include day trips to many exciting UK destinations including Bath, Brighton, Cambridge, Dover Castle, Oxford, Salisbury and Stonehenge; weekend trips to Wales, Scotland and the North of England. Students also receive a Volunteering Guide with details of volunteering trips that take place across London and the rest of the UK.
We regularly attend major sporting events including England soccer games at Wembley Stadium and premiership rugby matches. The arts are similarly well represented in our Cultural Program with trips to see at least five big West End theatre productions, tickets to the opera, the Royal Ballet and a major concert.
Other trips include hiking and biking trips, a visit to the Harry Potter Studios, ceilidh dances, stand-up comedy nights, fish and chip suppers and much, much more. We feel that London offers a something for everyone no matter what they're into, and we aim to have our programme of events reflect this.
