Health & Safety

The NYU Student Health Center and the Department of Public Safety work closely with the NYUAD Wellness Center and the Office of Public Safety to plan for safe, healthy, and enriching opportunities long before you arrive. You will be introduced to many of these services in the months leading up to your time abroad while others will be explained in detail during the mandatory on-site orientation. The NYU Abu Dhabi Public Safety and Transportation Services staff will provide you with the highest standards of safety and convenient ways to get around the city.

The NYUAD Health and Wellness Center provides on-site medical services ranging from primary and mental health care to referrals to specialists for chronic care, injury, or illness.

Insurance

Students studying at NYU Abu Dhabi will be enrolled in the HTH Worldwide insurance plan and a local Green Crescent plan at no additional cost. The HTH program provides students with improved access to medical and mental health services in the event they become ill or injured or require ongoing health or mental health care while abroad with New York University. Please note: The HTH Worldwide plan has coverage limits and may not provide coverage when the student returns home on travel, breaks, or on a permanent basis.

While enrollment in the HTH Worldwide plan is free to all students studying abroad with NYU, students must still be covered by a health insurance plan that complies with NYU criteria. This ensures that there are no critical gaps in coverage for medically necessary care at home or abroad. Most NYU students are automatically enrolled in and charged for the NYU-sponsored Student Health Insurance Plan as part of the course registration process. Visiting students are unfortunately not eligible for NYU-sponsored Student Health Insurance and should plan to maintain their own coverage for their term away with NYU.
