For Faculty
The academic priorities and direction of NYU's Global Programs are overseen by faculty with related research interests that offer advice and counsel to the Provost and Vice Provost.
Faculty with research interests or affinities to a particular region are invited to serve on a Global Faculty Affinity Group. These committees guide the development of new program initiatives and propose enhancements to existing course offerings at the NYU Global Sites. Affinity Groups offer the NYU faculty significant involvement in the management and direction of the NYU programs abroad, ensuring that the Sites meet their research needs and those of their students. Additionally, the Affinity Groups offer advice on the creation of new programs and sites, assist with curriculum review and assessment, and actively participate in the planning process for new campuses abroad.
Affinity Groups are currently active for the following locations or regions: London, Accra, Florence, Prague and Shanghai. Members of the NYU faculty interested in participating in an affinity group are welcome to attend the next scheduled meeting. The fall 2007 schedule will be posted in September. For a current list of faculty participants, see: the faculty affinity groups document.
The Office of Global Programs provides limited funding to faculty and Ph.D. students for international scholarly collaborations here at Washington Square, as well as research, teaching, and the organization of conferences abroad at an NYU Global Site. The office also manages faculty exchange relationships with the University of Amsterdam, East China Normal University and Peking University. Many of these relationships are new and guidelines will be available shortly. For current information on funding opportunities, including fellowships, see: www.nyu.edu/global/fellowships.
