Africa House
The University is now seeking funding to purchase and renovate a facility for an international house devoted to Africa and its diverse histories within and outside the continent, to encompass these programs and other ones in development.
Africa House will be the intellectual center for NYU students and faculty who are studying Africa and its diasporas. It likewise will be a meeting place for people in the New York City metropolitan area who have a personal or professional interest in Africa and its diasporas. It will provide a venue for visiting African dignitaries, leaders, cultural figures, and academics who are visiting the city. The goal in creating Africa House is nothing less than to establish NYU as one of the leading centers in the world for the study of Africa's histories, cultures, politics, and economic developments.
