Tuition Payment and Financial Matters

Tuition Payment Deadlines are available at:

http://www.nyu.edu/bursar/payment.info/dates.html

Because you will be dropped from your classes if the University does not receive your tuition payment by the published deadline it is your obligation to complete the steps below. Students who are dropped from their classes will lose their spot in their courses, have to re-register for the entire semester, and may be forced onto waitlists.

  1. If you are not handling your own finances, it is your responsibility to inform the person paying your tuition of all deadlines, financial policies, etc., as the University will communicate only with the student.

  2. Learn about the University's Electronic Billing system (E-Billing).  Students who enroll for courses will receive an email, at their official NYU email address, notifying them a tuition bill is now available. The University does not send paper bills via U.S. mail.  Students can also invite parents or other authorized users to create their own E-Billing user profile. For more information visit www.nyu.edu/bursar/ebill.

  3. Learn about tuition costs. Students registered for 12-18 credits are considered full-time students for billing purposes, and are charged a flat tuition rate. Students registered for 11 credits or less are charged per credit. For current tuition charges, go to the website of the Office of the Bursar at http://www.nyu.edu/bursar/tuition.fees.

  4. Learn the tuition payment process as published by the Office of the Bursar at http://www.nyu.edu/bursar/payment.info.Here you will also learn the methods for payment.

  5. While registering on Albert read all information pertaining to financial matters. Take special note of the following:
    • Before registering for classes, read all information on the REGISTER page before selecting your “Academic Unit of Registration” and “Term of Registration.”
    • From the Bursar menu on Albert’s home page, select TUITION AND FEE SCHEDULE to investigate your particular situation and track all general financial deadlines.

  6. If you are receiving financial aid:
    • Confirm that your scholarships, loans, grants, etc. have been applied properly to your account balance by contacting the Office of Financial Aid at (212)998-4444.
    • Learn the requirements to maintain your financial aid by reading Satisfactory Academic Progress.

  7. Before the tuition payment deadline, check on your “financial clearance.” Prior to the payment deadline, the Office of the Bursar will send you an email with instructions on how to check on your financial clearance. Students who have not been financially cleared will be dropped from their classes. For more information about financial clearance, go to the website of the Office of the Bursar, http://www.nyu.edu/bursar/payment.info/financial.html.

  8. Learn about NYU’s tuition refund policy and schedule by reading the information on Tuition Refund Policy. Students who drop and/or add courses after classes begin may be subject to financial penalties.

  9. Investigate your need for tuition insurance by reading the information on Tuition Insurance.  Students who must withdraw after the published refund deadlines will not receive a refund of tuition. To protect yourself against financial loss due to injury or illness you must purchase tuition insurance.
