Understanding Your "Statement of Transfer Credit"

What is a Statement of Transfer Credit (STC)?
A Statement of Transfer Credit (STC) is a single-page, detailed evaluation of transfer credit that is sent to you along with your offer of admission.

Which office is responsible for producing the Statement of Transfer Credit (STC)?
New York University’s Office of Undergraduate Admission (22 Washington Square North, NY, NY 10011) is responsible for evaluating all of your work prior to NYU and for informing you, via the STC, which credits will transfer toward your NYU degree. The STC is mailed along with your letter of admission.

What is the purpose of the Statement of Transfer Credit (STC)?
1) Your STC tells you and your adviser how many transfer credits you have received, what requirements you have fulfilled, and how many more credits and what requirements are remaining for your degree. You should bring this form with you to your first advising appointment, then file it with your important school documents until graduation as you might need it in the future.
2) Your STC tells you what, if any, documents you still need to submit to the Office of Undergraduate Admission before your transfer credits will be posted to your NYU transcript and your matriculation is finalized.

Do I need to do anything with my STC to finalize my matriculation?
Yes, you need to learn how to read and understand your STC. Once you have learned this, you will know whether or not you have to take further action. Go now to How to Read the Statement of Transfer Credit.

Who do I contact if I have questions about my STC?
All questions about your Statement of Transfer Credit should be directed to the Office of Undergraduate Admission (212-998-4500, 22 Washington Square North, NY, NY 10011).
