Student Life Programs

Gallatin Sight Seeing

This program is exposes Gallatin students to an event, place or sight that is central to New York through organized programming. Programs include trip to museums, plays, historical sights, etc. The Sight Seeing trips are subsidized by Gallatin and are open to ALL Gallatin students. There is no class boundary or requirement to participate.

Service Learning

This program either works within the Gallatin Community or the greater Community surrounding New York University. The program is coupled with a debriefing session that discusses the area of service, and a reflection activity that encourages students to contemplate the meaning of service, and the role it plays in their lives.

Community Wellness

These programs provide an opportunity for students to relax during stressful times such as midterms and finals. Student Life supplies the food and the activity, and the students create the positive community.

Gallatin Coffee House

Series The Coffee House furnishes a space for Gallatin students, faculty and community members to watch and discuss a charged topic in an unconventional, uncontrolled manner. We provide the coffee -- and you provide the conversation.

DIneALOGUE

This program provides Gallatin students with an opportunity to dialogue with other students, faculty and external guests on a pre-selected topic by the host. Any member of the Gallatin community may host and submit a proposal for a dinalogue. Unlike the coffee house, this is a small group and completely student driven. Student Life yields a budget for food and beverages.

DisCOURSE

This spring semester program is a small, bi-monthly discussion group open to students of all racial backgrounds. Through DisCourse students will participate in real conversations, addressing issues of race on a societal and personal level. This program seeks to create an atmosphere of trust where students can voice their opinions and ideas in order to deconstruct our differences and similarities. Application necessary.
