Events
Gallatin alumni have the opportunity to reconnect with former classmates as well as faculty and administrators at Gallatin’s annual Alumni Day luncheon. In addition, all alumni are invited to a variety of Gallatin School events throughout the year, such as the Albert Gallatin Lectures, Gallatin Writing Program and Gallatin Film Series events, Black History Month activities, and the Gallatin Arts Festival. Recent alumni are also invited to attend the Dean’s Mentoring Roundtable Series. Many event invitations are sent via email, so be sure to provide us with your email address via our online contact information form.

Return to the Great Books 2008: Machiavelli’s The Prince
Saturday, May 17, 12:00 - 2:00 p.m.
The Gallatin School, 715 Broadway
Join Gallatin Professors Lisa Goldfarb and George Shulman in our “alumni classroom” to explore a classic text: Niccolò Machiavelli’s The Prince. Over lunch in the School’s recently renovated facilities, participants will take part in a lively discussion and have the opportunity to meet Gallatin’s new dean, Susanne Wofford. Written in 1513 as a practical guide for Italy’s Lorenzo de’ Medici, The Prince is widely regarded as one of the most influential texts on politics and power, with themes that have particular resonance in the world today. Professors Goldfarb and Shulman will examine both the literary and political implications of the book, and how its messages have been interpreted throughout history.
