The Hyperion Performance Suite (HPS) is the selected development environment for the University’s standard reports, ad hoc reporting, and custom analysis reporting. HPS provides business analysts with the capability to configure and maintain user friendly dashboard applications, and allows programmers to extend and customize out-of-the-box reporting functionality. HPS also permits business information to be formatted, aggregated, presented and distributed in detail or summary level throughout the University. HPS offers a variety of options for exploring the results including drilling down in areas of interest to see more detail. It offers an array of reporting choices using tables, charts, and pivots.
The Hyperion Performance Suite includes a widely used tool called Hyperion Intelligence (also called Brio). This is a web-based plug-in application that works with popular browsers, including Internet Explorer or Netscape. The plug-in application allows users to build ad-hoc queries based on published tables or views in the data warehouse. Queries that answer recurring business questions can be developed, saved, and then re-run whenever an updated result set is desired.
eReports is the University’s legacy reporting environment. It provides web-based access to financial and employee-related administrative business reports. These are pre-formatted reports that can be saved as either pdf or text format. There are over fifty reports currently available. These reports are being re-developed and enhanced using the Hyperion Performance Suite. Once complete, the eReports reporting environment will be decommissioned.
