The mission of the Tax Services Department is: to ensure accurate tax reporting and withholding; to prepare exempt organization tax returns and University Unrelated Business Income Tax Returns; to provide advice and guidance on tax issues; and to review reports on payment of sales, real estate and payroll taxes.
Aditionally, the Tax Services Department is charged with the responsibility to ensure that we comply with all federal, state, and city agency rules and requirements when it comes to payments to Foreign Nationals (also referred to as Nonresident Aliens). The Tax Department reviews all payments made via Payroll, Accounts Payable, and the Student Information System to ensure that we meet all reporting and withholding requirements. They also ensure that all Nonresident Aliens receiving payments from New York University meet all immigration requirements in order to receive payment.
