The teaching faculty of the Institute of French Studies is an eclectic mix of professors drawn from NYU’s renowned humanities and social science faculty. Professors’ backgrounds and research interests cover a broad spectrum of disciplines and subdisciplines, including not only history, politics, and economics, but anthropology, art, and gender and sexuality.

Visiting professors from distinguished institutions of higher learning abroad, including the Université de Paris, Oxford, and the Ecole des Hautes Etudes, complement the Institute’s faculty by providing further insight into French culture from a multi-disciplinary perspective.
