native of Tel-Aviv,
Israel,
composer Hila
Tamir-Ostrover studied piano at the Israeli Conservatory of Music, and
Composition with Leon Schidlowsky at the Tel-Aviv Rubin Academy of
Music.
Hila's music has been broadcast and performed in Israel, Germany and
The States
by ensembles such as ICE (International Contemporary Ensemble),
Kammerensemble
Neue Musik Berlin (KNM), Synergy, Caprizma, and Meitar, and has been
featured
in contemporary music festivals such as The Israeli Music Festivities
and
Zlilim Bamidbar. Hila is also a recipient of several scholarships and
prizes,
among which are a scholarship from the Center for Jewish Culture and
Creativity
(CJCC), merit scholarships from Tel-Aviv University, and a MacCracken
fellowship from New York University. She is the first prize winner of
the 2003
International Composition Competition on Judaic Concepts and Themes.
She is
currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Music Composition and Theory in New York University under the guidance of
Elizabeth Hoffman and Louis Karchin.
