The Department of Italian Studies is housed in
Casa
Italiana Zerilli-Mariṃ, a renovated five-story
landmark townhouse at 24 West 12th Street. The Casa is five blocks north of Washington Square
Park, in the neighborhood called Greenwich
Village. Below are directions for getting to the department, and links to useful maps.
Arriving by plane
From La Guardia, Kennedy, or Newark Airport, take the airport shuttle bus to
Port Authority Bus Terminal or Grand Central Station. From Port Authority, go to
42nd Street-Times Square Station and take
the BMT Broadway subway (N or R train) downtown to 14th Street-Union Square
Station. From Grand Central, take the IRT Lexington
Avenue subway (No. 4, 5, or 6 trains) downtown to 14th Street-Union Square
Station. Cabs and car services are
available at the airport.
Arriving by train
 | Metro-North into Grand Central Station
Take the IRT Lexington Avenue subway (No. 4, 5, or 6 trains) downtown to
14th Street-Union Square Station. Walk westward on 14th Street to Fifth
Avenue. Go south on Fifth Avenue to 12th
Street. Walk westward on 12th
Street until you reach No. 24 (south side of the street). |
 | Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) and Amtrak
into Pennsylvania Station
Take the IND Eighth Avenue subway (A, C, and E trains) downtown to 14th
Street Station, then the 14th Street-Canarsie subway (L train) to 14th
Street-Sixth Avenue Station. Walk south on Sixth Avenue to 12th
Street. Walk eastward on 12th
Street until you reach No. 24 (south side of the street). |

To Ninth Street Station (Sixth Avenue and Ninth Street), then walk north on
Sixth Avenue to
West 12th Street
and east to No. 24 (south
side of the street). |
Arriving by bus
To Port Authority Terminal, then go to 42nd Street-Times Square Station and take

Arriving by car
 | From the North or Northeast: Take
the NY State Thruway to the Triborough Bridge, which becomes the Major
Deegan Expressway in the Bronx, to FDR Drive in Manhattan. Follow FDR Drive
south to 34th Street. Turn right on 34th Street to Sixth Avenue. Turn left
on Sixth Avenue to 12th Street. Turn left on 12th Street. |
 | From the Northwest, West, and South: Take
the Interstate Highway 95 and/or the New Jersey Turnpike to the Holland
Tunnel. Once through the tunnel, go north on Sixth Avenue (also called
Avenue of the Americas). Turn right on 12th Street. |
 | From the George Washington Bridge: Take
the Henry Hudson Parkway (turns into the West Side Highway/12th Avenue) to
23rd Street. Turn left on 23rd Street to Seventh Avenue. Turn right on
Seventh Avenue to 12th Street. Turn left on 12th Street. |
Arriving by boat
Take the Staten Island Ferry to Battery Park and take the IRT Seventh Avenue
subway (No. 1 or 9 trains) uptown to 14th Street-Seventh Avenue Station. Walk
westward on 12th Street until you reach No. 24 (south side of the street).
