The
Department of English at
The Caribbean Literary Studies Symposium is organized
to examine the work of a specific author, region, and/or cultural, historical,
or political issue emanating from the literature of the Caribbean Region.
This year proposals are sought for individual papers or panel sessions,
which focus on the work of the internationally renowned
Papers and panel sessions may focus on Brathwaites
work from literary, cultural, or historical perspectives or some synthesis of
these perspectives. For each paper/panel session proposed, please submit
a paragraph abstract indicating the title and thesis of your paper. For
proposed panel sessions, this information must be included for each presenters
paper. Provide your name, mailing address, e-mail address, and
telephone number in your abstract submission.
Proposals are sought in three categories:
1) Professors/independent scholars
2) Graduate Students and 3) Undergraduate Students. Please
indicate your status in your abstract submission. Papers must have
a reading time of not more than twenty (20) minutes.
Please submit proposals no later than Tuesday,
February 22, 2005 by mail to:

Information on hotel accommodations will be forwarded upon receipt of your
proposal. The registration fee for the conference is $100 (for
professors/independent scholars) and $50 (graduate and undergraduate students)
and will include continental breakfast and lunch on both days of the
