On behalf of the Medieval and Renaissance Center at New York University, it is my pleasure to invite you to learn more about our activities. The Medieval and Renaissance Center (MARC) is an interdisciplinary center of learning and research specializing in the history, institutions, languages, literatures, thought, faith, art, and music of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. The Center sponsors a rigorous academic program in Medieval and Renaissance Studies, a Distinguished Lecture Series that brings eminent medievalists and early modernists to our downtown campus, annual conferences and international visitors, as well as numerous other academic and non-academic avenues for scholarly exchange and collaboration. It aims to provide students and faculty a forum of intellectual dialogue on all matters relating to medieval and early modern studies, drawing not only on NYU's outstanding resources, but on the superb libraries, museums, and collections in the New York area. We are also enthused to attend and participate in many musical and theatrical performances of works from this period that are given regularly in the New York City area.
Over the past few years, MARC has continued its work and maintained its standards of excellence in and engagement with medieval and Renaissance studies. Moreover, following the currents of contemporary scholarship, MARC has extended its reach geographically and chronologically, beyond Europe and into Early Modern Studies. A balanced program of courses and lectures will attempt to reflect a dynamic and integrated perspective on the subjects of our concern.
The current members of our faculty Advisory Board are:
Brigitte Bedos-Rezak (History)
Robert Chazan (Hebrew and Judaic Studies)
