Financial Assistance

NYU recognizes that supporting and caring for a family can put a strain on your budget. The following financial assistance programs are designed to help you.

Adoption Assistance Program

Provides reimbursement of up to $5000 ($6000 for children with special needs) for specified adoption related expenses. Employee must seek reimbursement within six (6) months of the child's placement. Child Care Subsidy

Established by the Collective Bargaining Agreement, the Child Care Subsidy provides for a "child care grant" for child care services for eligible employees with children aged newborn through age 12 years. Funds are allocated each calendar year and grant amounts are based upon the total fund dollars and the number of applications received. Employees eligible are upon hire. Applications from employees who are expecting are accepted for consideration.

Child Care Scholarship Pilot Program

Available for child care services for full-time eligible employees with children under the age of 5 years. Scholarships are allocated each calendar year and grant amounts are based upon the total fund dollars and the number of applications received. Employees are eligible upon hire. Scholarship grants will be distributed through an NYU Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and therefore not included in a grantee's taxable income. Individuals who receive a scholarship, may also elect to make additional contributions to the Dependent Care ESA from their wages on a pre-tax basis.

Back-up Child and Adult Care

Subsidized in-home backup care for children ages 6 months through 12 years and adult dependents (spouse, registered domestic partner, parent, parent-in-law, or grandparent). Up to 50 hours per calendar year is subsidized by the University at a rate of 75% of the per hour cost of care. Pre-registration is required. Tuition Remission Ð NYU

Waives tuition for certain NYU courses taken by full-time regular, administrative and professional staff, their spouses or registered domestic partners, and their dependent children. Beginning with the Spring 2007 semester, the Tuition Remission benefit also covers 50% of an employee's course registration fee. Employees are responsible for the remaining 50% of the registration fee, plus all service fees and any incidental expenses. Spouses, registered domestic partners, and their dependent children must pay all registration fees, service fees or any incidental expenses.

In general, in order to be eligible for tuition remission for any degree or credit courses the student must be accepted and matriculated for an NYU degree. You and your spouse or registered domestic partner become eligible for Tuition Remission after you have completed three months continuous, regular full-time, NYU employment. In general, your dependent children, or dependent children of your registered domestic partner, become eligible for tuition remission after you have completed three years of continuous, full-time, regular NYU employment.

Assists full-time, regular faculty, administrative & professional staff, and professional research staff at Washington square in meeting the cost of college tuition for their dependent children who matriculate for undergraduate degrees at accredited colleges or universities other than NYU. In general, you are eligible for the Portable Tuition Benefit after you have completed three years (or 10 years for the higher benefit) of continuous, full-time, regular NYU employment. There is no limit to the number of eligible dependent children in a family who may benefit from this plan however there is only one benefit per child. Other rules apply.
