Expecting a child and becoming a new parent is a very exciting time filled with anticipation. To help you a make a successful transition - at home and at work - NYU has developed a packet of information designed to assist you from the beginning of your pregnancy, through your leave of absence, and to your return to work. These materials will help you to:
- Plan for your leave;
- Understand relevant personnel policies and procedures;
- Understand how to access health benefits and health care for your child;
- Know about NYU-sponsored programs and services; and
- Make the transition as you become a working parent.
Work-Family Supports
New York University policies and programs support our employees' growing families, whether through birth or adoption. One form of support is the various "time off" policies covering birth and adoption. Although time off from work for these purposes are often referred to as "maternity leave" this is really a general term encompassing several types of time off.
