Before and after-school programs and activities meet a range of needs and are provided in a variety of ways. Families seek after-school activities that can provide structure to their child's after-school hours, homework day, enrichment classes, sports clinics and teams, cultural experiences, and certainly time to build friendships.
Many public and private schools offer before-school, after-school and extended day programs to children enrolled at the school. When you register your child at school, ask about after-school programs at the school or those in the community which are frequented by other families.
Resources
- Carebridge Life Resources can help families in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania identify local school-age child care programs and activities.
- Use the NYU Babysitting Registry to post your need or search the postings of students available for child care.
- NYU's Wasserman Center for Career Development serves as an additional source for students seeking babysitting postions. Families can post babysitting positions for NYU students or broaden their reach and seek students from other nearby colleges as well.
