NYC EDUCATION OPTIONS AND INFORMATION

SUMMER CAMP OPTIONS

  • Coles' Swim Camp for children ages 5-13 years is now registering campers for the weeks of July 15-19 and July 22-26.
  • Coles' Volleyball Camp for students in 6th grade through 1st year of college, beginners through advanced. Registration is open for this special skills clinic held August 2-4.
  • iDTech with three programs for students 7-17 years and including two academies for teens - iDTech, iD Programming Academy, and iD Visual Arts Academy. Discounts are available for NYU families who use their NYU email address and promo code NYU2013.
  • Center for Architecture located at 536 LaGuardia Place is offering students entering grades 3-12 an interesting array of one-week architecture studio and design programs. Classes are small and a limited number of need-based scholarships are available.
  • New camps were recently added to the on-line sampling of theme and general recreational camp programs for preschoolers through teens. Information and referral sources are listed for additional ideas and supports.

CHILD CARE INFORMATION AND REFERRAL FOR CURRENT AND PROSPECTIVE NYU FAMILIES

  • Looking for an Early Childhood Program? Explore our webpages on choosing a child care program and nursery school admissions.
  • Providers affiliated with the NYU/University Settlement Family Child Care Program are meeting with families seeking child care for children 6 months through preschool. Child care is available on or near campus. Contact family.care@nyu.edu for referrals.
  • Faculty members living on or near the NYU campus may contact family.care@nyu.edu for general information and assistance. All NYU faculty, administrators, and staff may contact Carebridge Life Resources for information and referral to child care options in the greater NYC metropolitan area or enroute to campus.

LIVING FULLY: RESOURCES FOR AGING WELL IN THE CITY

    The new 80 page guide for seniors, published by the Office of the Manhattan Borough President, offers a comprehensive overview of programs for seniors, their families and caregivers from continuing education and employment to understanding options in senior housing. NEW APP HELPS CAREGIVERS OF ALZHEIMER'S PATIENTS

    The National Alzheimer's Center, a division of the Hebrew Home at Riverdale, launched a new app designed to help family members who are caring for an Alzheimer's patient. "The app called, 'Balance,' enables users to communicate with multiple caregivers, track and share changes in real-time with the patient's doctor(s), learn about the latest developments in the disease and get information about what to expect as Alzheimer's progress." The app is available on iTunes for a fee of $3.99.
