Resources for Schools and Departments

Teaching Development Services

The Center for the Advancement of Teaching is pleased to offer teaching development services to all NYU schools and departments. Workshops from our regular roster of programming for faculty can be scheduled and modified to meet the needs of any academic or service unit in the NYU community. Past and current workshops and workshop series have covered everything from the fundamentals of syllabus design to the practical applications of active learning theory in the classroom. Our staff works with department chairs, administrators, and other representatives to develop and implement curricula for teaching graduate students as well as the most experienced professors. Our teaching development modules can support both general orientation programs and continuing professionalization initiatives.

We also encourage schools and departments to direct individual instructors to our Confidential Teaching Consultations, which provide constructive, supportive, and confidential feedback on classroom practices. Our staff of consultants can help new faculty find their footing or accomplished teachers experiment with new strategies.

CAT's event schedule lists teaching and learning events sponsored by a variety of NYU schools, departments, and organizations. If you would like to list your event on our calendar, please contact us. Advance notice of at least one week is required.
