The NYU Benefits Office mission is to assist employees and their families in accessing, understanding, and maximizing the value obtained from the University's benefits programs, including:

  • Counsels employees and retirees and their families about all benefit plans and choices.
  • Facilitates benefits enrollments for new hires and qualifying status changes.
  • Administers retirement plans and retiree benefits.
  • Maintains Benefits Resource Center, which houses all benefits information and forms, online resources, and tools.
  • Offers educational opportunities that focus on health and wellness and financial fitness through the NYU LiveSmart program. Health screenings and other programs that target disease control and prevention are also made available on a regular basis.

The NYU Compensation Office is responsible for providing competitive and equitable compensation that is aligned with the University's short- and long-term strategies and which serves to attract, retain, and motivate high performing employees. In line with this, it is also the objective of the Compensation team to provide programs that enable leaders to recognize, reward, and reinforce excellent and sustained employee performance. Typical activities include:

  • Conducts benchmarking to ensure external market competitiveness.
  • Performs job evaluations to ensure internal equity and appropriate leveling based on competency framework.
  • Consults on salary offers for new hires, promotions, market/equity adjustments, annual merit increases, and temporary salary increases.
  • Administers NYU Recognition Programs and Annual Bonus Program.

  • Ensures employment, job related actions, and status changes have required approvals and are processed within deadlines; consults with units on processing actions.
  • Identifies and responds to requests for information, enhanced system functionality, and business process automation.
  • Maintains records of administrative/professional, office, technical, service, and casual employees.
  • Responsible for data integrity and ensures data is kept confidential and maintained in compliance with University and legal requirements.

  • Serves as first point-of-contact for employees' and managers' requests for HR service and questions on HR policies and/or processes (e.g., policies and procedures, vacation/sick day accumulation, payroll deadlines, status changes).
  • Drives and executes key administrative, transactional, and HR operation processes, procedures, and tasks efficiently and effectively using relevant metrics and targeted data to measure and communicate HR outcomes.
  • Partners with HR Business Partners and other HR functions for issue resolution, project development/management, resource planning, efficiency improvement, and related initiatives.
