The University is pleased to announce the launch of a new program designed to assist current residents of NYU housing who are interested in purchasing their own homes within commuting distance of NYU. Under the Homeownership Program-2 ("HOP-2"), the University will offer Lifetime Affordable Mortgage Program loans (LAMP), which have zero Current Interest, to assist eligible affiliate residents of NYU housing purchase their own homes. Due to expected high demand and limited funds, the LAMP loans will be offered until all of the funds have been committed but no later than December 31, 2009.
With this program, the University seeks to achieve two important goals: to help those who want to pursue non-University housing options, and to help meet NYU's pressing need for additional housing units. Our objective is to offer a program that is straightforward and beneficial to as many affiliate residents of NYU housing as possible. Of course, participation in this program is entirely voluntary.
We encourage anyone interested in homeownership assistance to carefully review the information package and LAMP brochure listed below. Given the importance of this decision for our current residents, the Faculty Housing Office is available to provide individual counseling sessions on home purchasing to anyone who would like to participate in HOP-2. If you are interested in this program, please contact us to schedule an appointment.
Please note that for eligible affiliates the Lifetime Affordable Mortgage Program loan (LAMP) may also be used in conjunction with the Riverwalk Affordable Mortgage Program (RAMP) loan to
purchase a luxury condominium at Riverwalk Landing on Roosevelt Island.
