Greater NYU Community

For the greater NYU community, the University requires at least a 10% down payment, but please note that many lenders are now requiring at least 15%. Helpful contact information for potential lawyers is provided below. Please note that the subsidized financing or RAMP loan is only available to Eligible NYU affiliates living in University rental housing.

Eligible Affiliates in NYU Housing

For eligible affiliates living in NYU rental housing, the University will finance 30% of the purchase price of the condominium unit with a zero-interest, shared appreciation loan. Please refer to the following documents for full information on the Riverwalk Affordable Mortgage Program (RAMP).

** Please note an important amendment to the interest payment feature of the RAMP loan, described in the brochure under "At Retirement" (p. 3). Upon retirement, the University will charge an interest rate of 0.5% per annum (one half of one percent) on the RAMP loan in order to comply with social security requirements. In the event a loan, at its origination, is made to a retiree, then the loan will have an interest rate of 0.5% per annum at origination.
