University Business Kits

For most of the units within the central administration of NYU, the institutional identity should satisfy their communications needs. The institutional identity serves as a unifying device that suggests an organized structure, institutional credibility, and a professional approach to how the University conducts its practice.

When it comes to business communications, the prevailing notion is that the coordinated use of the same business papers across all University administrative units will give a sense of professionalism and organization to how we communicate and do business. Sometimes referred to as a "business kit," the items demonstrated below include a standard letterhead, an envelope, a business card, memo pad, e-mail signature, and PowerPoint template. The design of these items has been standardized and composed to reflect the NYU institutional graphic identity.

Going forward, and as offices need to replenish their supplies, these are the elements of a business kit that all NYU offices should employ.

E-mail Signature
E-mail signatures do not need to include the NYU logo. For brevity and ease of use, the following format is recommended, with the default e-mail client font.

Powerpoint template
The below NYU power point template can be downloaded in the downloads section.

A business kit indicates a set of basic communication items and usually includes a  business card, standard letterhead and envelope, memo pad, fax cover sheet, e-mail signature, Word template, and PowerPoint template.

In most cases, your department’s office administrator can access business kit materials on NYU’s i-Buy system under the Northeast Thermography vendor icon.

When communicating to outside audiences, it’s less important to call out departmental differences and more important to reinforce the connection with NYU. Consistent and coordinated use of the visual identity will project professionalism.
