- Editorial usage: Images can be used to supplement newspaper, journal or magazine articles in print and online that highlight NYU projects, faculty/administration/students or events.
There is no end date for images used in above purposes.
Permission is not automatically granted for the following uses:
- Advertising: Images used to highlight an NYU event, program of faculty/administration/student in newspapers/magazines/journals online or in print when payment is considered an advertisement. Permission must be granted from the NYU Photo Bureau for this purpose. Example: creation of an ad in the New York Times promoting an NYU program
- Commercial Use: Images used to highlight an NYU event, program, faculty/administration/student online or in print when payment received is considered commercial/promotional use. Permission to use images for this purpose must be granted from the NYU Photo Bureau. Examples include photography in books, (front cover, back cover, inside), product packaging, and billboards.
Permission is not granted for third party distribution:
- Third-party distribution is prohibited where images would be used for purposes outside of academic or university reasons. For example, an image of an NYU student attending a Stern event cannot be sold or distributed to a third party (NYU or non-NYU) where the student's image would be used to highlight a non-university promotion.
