- Navigate to and open the desired page.
- The component placeholder contains a video player. It appears with a down-arrow icon underneath a top border from which you can select various actions.
- Click on the Edit button in the top border to add your video content.
Note: before a video may be used in a page, it must be added to the Digital Asset Management (DAM) system. - In the Video Properties tab:
- For Video Path: Click the down arrow to select the video from the Digital Asset Manager (DAM). The "Select Path" window will open allowing you to navigate through the DAM to your videos. Highlight the video you wish to use. Click the OK button to finish.
- For Intro Image: Click the down arrow to select an image from the DAM to be the default image on display in the video player. The "Select Path" window will open allowing you to navigate through the DAM to your images. Highlight the image you wish to use. Click the OK button to finish.
- For Captions Path: If you have prepared a .xml file to caption your video, you may choose it using this utility. Click the down arrow to choose the .xml caption file from the DAM. The "Select Path" window will open allowing you to navigate through the DAM to your caption files. Highlight the file you wish to use. Click the OK button to finish. If you haven't yet, learn to Install a Caption File.
Note: If you want to have video on the nyu.edu site, it is recommended to provide closed captions for each video to help provide a complete viewing experience for all users. It is also recommended to make an HTML transcript and include a link under each video called "Read Video Transcript".
- Click the magnifying glass icon in the Sidekick to open the page in Preview mode to ensure that all additions are as expected from the end-user's perspective.
