Use Rich Text

  1. Navigate to and open the desired page.
  2. Add a component.
  3. Double click the component icon.
  4. You'll be presented with a text container and the following functions:

    B: bold (Ctrl + B), make the selected text boldface
    I: italic (Ctrl + I), make the selected text italic
    U: underline (Ctrl + U), underline the selected text
    Hyperlink: create or modify a hyperlink
    Unlink: remove an existing hyperlink from the selected text
    Anchor: add or edit an anchor
    Bullet List: start a bullet list
    Numbered List: start a numbered list
    Outdent: outdents the current paragraph or list items
    Indent: indents the current paragraph or list items
    Format: predefined text styles
    Paragraph: standard text style
    Heading 2: largest heading
    Heading 3: large heading
    Heading 4: medium heading
    Heading 5: small heading
    Blockquote: pulls selected content into blockquote

  5. Type in your content.
    Note: While typing, pressing the Return key will produce a carriage return and add space below a paragraph. Holding the Shift + Return key will only give you a line break.
  6. Style your content as desired.
  7. Click the OK button to finish and see the added text within the page.
  8. Click the magnifying glass icon in the Sidekick to open the page in Preview mode to ensure that all additions are as expected from the end-user's perspective.

Using Anchors

Anchors are links that allow a site viewer to jump to specific sections of the current page. In order to implement this type of link, you will need to create an anchor point and a link to the anchor point.

  1. Select text for the anchor.
  2. Click on the Anchor icon.
  3. Enter a unique name for the anchor then click OK.
  4. Select text for the link.
  5. Click on the Hyperlink icon.
  6. Enter the name of the anchor preceded by a hashtag (e.g. #anchor) and click OK.

Copy and Paste Issues

To copy and paste pre-formatted content from a Microsoft Word document, Apple/Macintosh product, website, or any other source, simply follow the following steps:

  1. Click the "Paste as text" button (clipboard symbol with a T) in the upper left corner of the rich text editor.
  2. Hit Command-V or Control V to paste the pre-formatted content into clipboard.
  3. Click OK.

This will strip away any formatting, leaving your copy free of garbled text and symbols.

The Rich Text component may be used in any container on any template within the site. It's main purpose is to input textual content into pages.

Anchors Example

To create anchor links within a page, first select and highlight the text for the anchor then click on the anchor icon and enter a descriptive name for the anchor. Click OK to save.

After defining the anchor, then select the text for the link to the anchor. Click on the hyperlink icon and enter the name of the name of the anchor proceded by a hashtag (e.g. #anchor). Click OK to save the link.
